It has never been seen in the automotive history a street sports car which resembles so much a Formula 1 like the Tramontana does. Even internet superstars fall to earth eventually. While recent reports of layoffs and other cost-cutting measures at Google have been greatly exaggerated, the search giant's culture of unbridled spending is finally coming to a halt. And that's probably a good thing. "Hard times have forced discipline on them," says Sanford Bernstein's Jeffrey Lindsay, who predicts, "They'll come back really powerfully. They can emerge as a much leaner and more competitive player."

It's not just afternoon tea that's falling by the wayside at the famously employee-friendly firm. Although Google hasn't handed out pink slips to any of its 20,000 full-time employees, it has cut about half of its additional 10,000 contract workers in recent months. And, previously one of the biggest recruiters of MBAs on college campuses, Google is eschewing such pricey new hires, although it is still bringing on new engineers.

It's been nearly a year since we first saw the USB 3.0 connector make an appearance at CES, and after months of corporate infighting, spec-polishing, and technical navel-gazing, the future of consumer peripheral connectivity is here -- in the form of complete specifications and a demo. Symwave's giving attendees of this week's SuperSpeed conference a taste of tomorrow with a demo of the Quasar USB 3.0 chipset, which is targeted at "sync-and-go" devices like phones and media players. Sounds lovely -- now if you'll excuse us, we have to go back to mourning the death of FireWire 400.

The one bad bit of news is that your old USB cables won't deliver SuperSpeeds—you'll have to have USB 3.0 gear from end-to-end to get the ridiculous transfer rates because the cables have extra pins for data, though it is all backward compatible. On the cable front you've got three plugs: Standard A (which looks like the one you know and love), standard B (the square one), mini B (which looks like a bizarre double-headed monster) and micro. We should start seeing the first USB 3.0-equipped gadgets sometime in 2010, though maybe by the end of 2009 if we're lucky.

Bloggers Buff 2008 bincang isu blog 22 November ini

KUALA LUMPUR: Bloggers Buff 2008, sebuah persidangan dan perangkaian bagi penulis-penulis blog akan diadakan pada 22 November ini di Pusat Dagangan Dunia Putra (PWTC), di sini.

Pengerusi penganjur, P. Kamalanathan berkata, persidangan yang akan bermula jam 9 pagi hingga 7 petang itu melibatkan dua sesi iaitu sesi pertama bertemakan "Blogging Realities" yang akan memfokuskan kepada isu-isu semasa yang berkaitan dengan penulisan blog termasuk etika, undang-undang, menjana pendapatan dan teknologi.

"Sementara itu, bagi sesi kedua pula adalah sesi perangkaian dengan tajuk "So you want to blog?" yang menyasarkan golongan muda dan penulis-penulis blog baru," katanya.

Beliau berkata, kedua-dua sesi tersebut akan mengundang panel-panel yang berpengalaman untuk berkongsi buah fikiran dan pengalaman mereka.

Katanya, antara panel yang akan hadir termasuk Peguam Negara, Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail; Pengerusi Suruhanjaya Komunikasi dan Multimedia Malaysia, Datuk Dr Halim Shafie dan penulis blog, Ahirudin Attan.

"Selain itu, bekas Perdana Menteri, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad turut dijemput menyampaikan ucaptama pada persidangan itu," katanya. Kamalanathan berkata, persidangan ini adalah batu loncatan untuk penulis-penulis blog di Malaysia daripada pelbagai genre untuk berkumpul dan berkongsi pandangan mereka.

"Ini adalah satu hari di mana mereka membuka fikiran terhadap pelbagai aspek dalam penulisan blog dan memberi komen tentang isu yang memberi kesan kepada penulis-penulis blog di negara ini," katanya.

Kamalanathan berkata, setiap sesi bagi Bloggers Buff 2008 hanya terhad kepada 100 orang yang paling awal mendaftar.

"Penulis-penulis blog boleh memilih sama ada mahu menghadiri kedua-dua sesi dengan bayaran RM60 atau memilih antara dua sesi tersebut iaitu sesi pertama dengan bayaran RM50 atau sesi kedua dengan bayaran RM20," katanya.

Beliau berkata, persidangan ini ditaja oleh Go Mobile dan dianjurkan oleh MI Fest Management.

Selain itu katanya, ia turut disokong oleh Empower Lives, All Blogs, Malaysian Indian Bloggers (MIB) dan Putera MIC, manakala Trexx FM sebagai stesen radio rasmi.

Windows 7 ganti Vista

SAN FRANCISCO: Pengeluar terbesar perisian Amerika Syarikat, Microsoft hari ini secara rasmi mengumumkan Windows 7 akan menggantikan sistem operasi Vista yang tidak memuaskan pada Januari 2010.

“Kami sedang membuat penyeledikan yang mendalam terhadap produk Windows dan kami berbangga kerana maklum balas dan prestasi yang baik daripada produk yang dihasilkan,” kata Ketua Jurutera Windows Ray Ozzie.

Antara keistimewaan Windows 7 adalah memudahkan penyambungan jaringan komputer dengan alat telekomunikasi seperti telefon bimbit, mesin pencetak, kamera digital dan lain-lain.

Menurut penganalsis Microsoft Matt Rosoff, syarikat berkenaan dijangka melancarkan Windows 7 menjelang tahun 2010.

“Secara relatifnya kami perlu membuat sedikit perubahan terhadap produk terbaru ini kerana Vista tidak mendapat sambutan yang menggalakkan,” kata Rosoff kepada AFP.

“Kami tahu ada perkara yang tidak digemari dalam Vista jadi kami berpendapat untuk merekacipta system tersebut kembali. Saya rasa Microsoft sedang memberi keutamaan kepada meningkatkan kualiti program berkenaan dan mengurangkan adua daripada pengguna,” katanya.

Windows 7 juga direka dengan ciri terkini yang dapat mempercepatkan tugas-tugas komputer serta memberi tumpuan kepada keserasian diantara aplikasi komputer dan alat penghubung yang lain.

“Kami membawa jaringan Web to Windows dan Windows to the Web yang terbaik untuk dalam produk terbaru kami ini,” kata Ozzie.

Microsoft juga turut mengumumkan mereka akan melancarkan versi online bagi software ‘Microsoft Office’.

Antara program yang boleh dimuat turun secara online adalah Word, Excel, Power Point dan One Note. Program-program berkenaan boleh dimuat turun di Office Live dengan memohon lesen yang sah daripada Microsoft.

BMW 3Q net profit falls 63 percent

FRANKFURT, Germany—Carmaker BMW AG said Tuesday net profit for the third quarter dropped 63 percent as the global economic turmoil made consumers more reluctant to shell out for its sports and luxury cars and credit costs made it difficult for consumers and the company to borrow.

The Munich-based company said net profit for the July-September period fell to 298 million euros ($375.5 million) from 803 million euros a year ago.

"The knock-on effects of the international financial crisis and a downturn in the global economy had a significant negative impact on the performance of the automobile industry," BMW said in a statement. "Ongoing consumer reticence on the main sales markets, the weak state of the preowned car markets together with difficult refinancing conditions also took their toll on the BMW group, resulting in a perceptible drop in revenues and earnings."

Sales for the quarter fell 9 percent to 12.6 billion euros ($16 billion) from 14 billion euros in the same quarter a year ago. The company said it couldn't give a concrete outlook.

"Due to the worsening of the financial crisis, it is currently impossible to make stable forecasts for the rest of the year and beyond," BMW said in a statement.

UniCredit analyst Sven Kreitmair said in a research note to investors that the company also indicated that it could rule out "that the risk provisions for bad debts and lease financing will have to be increased again." Investors, however weren't daunted. BMW shares were up 8 percent to 22.20 euros ($27.97) in Frankfurt trading.

The company said overall car production fell 10 percent to 335,000 cars for the quarter from 372,000 in the year-ago quarter, and deliveries of its flagship BMW branded cars saw a 5.3 percent decline in deliveries, to 290,661 cars from 306,964 a year earlier.

The motorcycles division, meanwhile, saw a 15 percent increase in production to 23,284 motorcycles, while ultra-luxury brand Rolls Royce also increased deliveries, by 17 percent to 332 cars delivered from 285 in the year-ago period. The compact Mini brand reported a 1.4 percent gain in deliveries for the quarter to 58,105 from 57,315 a year ago.

The company said its results were negatively impacted by the higher provisions for bad debt risk related to preowned car markets. BMW said it raised its provision for residual value risks and credit risks especially for used car loans during the quarter by 342 million euros ($431 million), bringing that total expense recognized in the first nine months to over 1 billion euros ($1.26 billion).

The company said its results were impacted by a further 258 million euros ($325 million) in charges during the nine months related to cutting its work force. In terms of regions, BMW said European sales developed unevenly. It said it saw "positive impetus" in some countries including

Germany, France, Belgium and Luxembourg, but nine month European sales fell 5 percent overall.

In North America, the company sold 6 percent less cars than in the year ago quarter, "dominated by the ongoing financial crisis," and an increase in fuel prices, BMW said. Meanwhile, the company saw "sharp growth" in central and Eastern Europe as well as in Latin America and Asia.

Total Asian sales were up 9.4 percent in the first nine months, with China, Hong Kong and Taiwan sales up 26 percent compared with the January-September period a year ago. Meanwhile, sales in Japan fell by 16 percent for the period.

How to remove rvhost.exe virus/malware from pc?

RVHOST.EXE Is most commonly caused by a worm infection.You shouldn't continue to get this threat once it's deleted, unless you come into contact with it again. May I suggest using caution with flash drives, and dont open things that you are unsure about. RVHOST.EXE also means A lot of viruses/worm sit in RAM, the registry and System Restore.


Solution no.1

First of all turn off System Restore by right clicking on ‘My Computer’ > Properties > System Restore. Now enable “Turn off system restore on all drives” > click apply > click OK.

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode – (achieved by pressing F8 continually during boot up) this should clear out the viruses in RAM and the registry. Now run your anti virus software and delete or quarantine any viruses found.

Reboot your computer in normal mode and complete another virus check. If all comes back clean turn on System Restore.

The new Gallardo LP560-4 Polizia

A private ceremony was held today at the Viminale Palace where Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. donated a police version of the company’s newest super sports car, Gallardo LP560-4 Polizia, to the head of the Italian State Police, Prefect Antonio Manganelli.

The new Gallardo LP560-4 Polizia, which replaces the previous Gallardo in use by the Italian police force since 2004 has a 560 horsepower engine that can reach speeds of up to 203 mph. The car will begin service with the Lazio Highway Police Department in order to continue accident and crime prevention to sustain security on the Italian roads.

The cabin of the super sports car is fitted with the latest advancements in police technology to immediately document the evidence of any transgression. The video system is positioned in the center of the cabin with a camera fitted next to the rear view mirror and a computer and recording equipment behind the seats. As soon as police officers discover a suspicious driver, they activate the “Proof Video Data System.” With the help of GPS data, the device can calculate the location, direction of movement and speed of the Lamborghini. This combined with the distance and time before intercept, accurately determines the speed of the vehicle being pursued.

Using radio data transmission, the video system in the Gallardo Polizia transfers its images in real time to the relevant police station. There, the videos are stored and used for automatic number plate retrieval. This information can be used for immediate identification of stolen vehicles.

In addition to its high tech equipment, the Gallardo is also fitted with the “classic” array of police equipment, such as a gun holster, police radio equipment and the “Paletta,” the traditional hand-held stop sign used to advise motorists and traffic offenders to pull over. Officers can then use a removable screen to show offenders their misdeeds immediately, complete with an overlay of all the associated data.
